"Successful Father's Successful Sons"

Hazrat Umar ibn Abdul Aziz had eleven sons, making him a very successful father. He made sure his children's needs were addressed despite their modest lifestyle, when even the most basic supplies were in short supply. He once contacted their daughter, but his wife showed there instead and introduced herself as their daughter's advocate. When asked why their daughter wasn't there, the wife replied that because of how poor the daughter was, her clothing were damaged and she stayed home to mend them. Because of his austere lifestyle and reputation for modesty, Umar ibn Abdul Aziz's daughter had no other garments to wear.

Although Umar ibn Abdul Aziz lived in poverty, he taught his kids to love, serve, and be decent people. He instilled in them a strong sense of duty and the need to help others. His children adopted these traits as a result of their upbringing. Even in his latter days, when he was sick and on the verge of death, a buddy stopped by to see him. When he heard this, Umar ibn Abdul Aziz got up and said, "Look, if my kids are good, I'm giving Allah the responsibility of raising them. Because Allah claims to be the defender of the just. I'm leaving them in Allah's hands. If my children are moral, I am powerless to intervene in their disobedience.
