To get rid of this evil man, the local leaders made the decision to complain about him to the Prophet of Allah, Hazrat Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him.
All the people assembled and went to Hazrat Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, and asked him to curse the washerman after he took everyone's clothes and proceeded to his washing area. They were granted their request, and Hazrat Isa prayed to Allah. "O Allah, make this liar bear the consequences of his deeds. A beggar approached the washerman as he was washing clothes and requested something in the name of Allah. He received two slices of bread from the washerman. Following his prayer, the beggar accepted the bread and left.
The washerman then carried on with the laundry. A poor man suddenly came up to him and requested for something in the name of Allah. Additionally, the washerman offered him two slices of bread. The poor man accepted the bread, prayed, and then walked away. After this occurrence, the washerman washed clothes in peace and brought a bundle of clean clothing back to the city.
People came to Hazrat Isa in shock, asking him why their request for a curse hadn't been granted. The washerman was unharmed. Inquiring about the washerman's most recent good deed, Hazrat Isa gave him a call. The washerman gave two pieces of bread to a beggar in the name of Allah, he explained. The same was also donated to a passing beggar who was in need.
"Is that all you did?" questioned Hazrat Isa. The washerman acknowledged the charitable deed and verified it. When his prayers weren't being answered, Hazrat Isa called a serpent and inquired as to why. The washerman had given two pieces of bread to a beggar in the name of Allah, and the serpent retorted as it moved in to bite him. I was about to bite him when angels intervened and brought me something to eat.
The serpent was questioned by Hazrat Isa, "Why didn't you bite him when Allah sent you to do so?" O Prophet, the serpent retorted. He had offered me two slices of bread in the name of Allah as I moved closer to bite him. Then, angels intervened and put something in my lips to prevent me from biting the man.
When Hazrat Isa heard this, he addressed the washerman by saying, "O servant of God! In return for that deed of kindness, Allah has pardoned all of your sins. As a result, keep doing good deeds and refraining from sin.
